A tale as old as time, Youri Tielemans has been heavily linked to Arsenal again with the players contract up at the end of the season.
Youri Tielemans disgruntled position with Leicester City has been rumbling for around two years. The Belgian international has been looking sharp in the Premier League and is ready for Champions League and title race football. The midfielder has been looming around the mid-table position under the management of Brendan Rodger’s foxes.
If Tielemans does not sign a new contract with the side, he will be available to leave on a free transfer. Arsenal would look to snap up the strong midfielder.
Ben Jacobs said:
“Come the summer, if Tielemans is available on a free transfer, there’ll be a variety of clubs looking at him.
Arsenal will still be there for sure and we know that Tielemans very much wanted that move a year ago and was hopeful that something might come off throughout the summer, but Arsenal moved in a different direction.”
Although Arsenal got the likes of Jorginho in the window, more cover in the midfield would never hurt. With the strength of his defensive play, Tielemans looks to bring depth to the North London side.
According to fbref.com, Tielemans ranks in the 86t percentile in tackles and 82nd in blocks. However, his offensive contributions are up there. 83rd in Progressive Passes, 82nd in Shot-Creating Actions, 79th in xAG, and 78th in Shots Total. The Belgian has contributed three goals, and one assist in 21 Premier League matches.
Will the Arsenal target finally come to the Gunners?
