Leicester’s Youri Tielemans was the player Arsenal were after all summer with bid after bid being submitted but unfortunately for Edu & Mikel Arteta, The Foxes wouldn’t budge on their £30m valuation and the deal broke down towards the end of August.
Leicester rocked up to the Emirates at the beginning of the season, got thumped 4-2 and Youri Tielemans left the ground with the Arsenal fans singing “Tielemans, we’ll see you next week”. Unfortunately that wasn’t the case with the player and the Arsenal fans both left disappointed come the end of the summer window.
Arsenal had personal terms agreed with the Belgian in the summer and there was even reports suggesting his dream is to play for The Gunners over every other team in the Premier League.
“Tielemans is fully sold on a move to Arsenal, so if Manchester United were to bid for Tielemans, they will only get him if Arsenal decide that’s fine, go ahead & take the player. It’s not really a head-to-head.”

Here we are in January, five months later and Arsenal’s interest hasn’t gone away. However now they have a much better chance of getting their man…
Leicester City manager, Brendan Rodgers has basically told Leicester to sell Youri Tielemans: “I think that if someone doesn’t want to be here or someone wants too much money to be here, we have to be brave enough to say ‘listen, thank you very much and on you go.” [quote via The Athletic]
Arsenal and Leicester were £5m apart in their valuation of the player five months ago, however with Youri Tielemans’ contract up at the end of this season & him determined not to sign a new deal, it’s all set up for Arsenal to go back in and get their man for much cheaper than they were planning on paying in the summer.
Youri Tielemans might get his dream move after all this month. It’s definitely one to keep an eye on.
