West Ham have turned their attention to a man Arsenal know very well as they look to replace Declan Rice ahead of next season.
With Declan Rice seemingly on his way out of West Ham this summer as a move to Arsenal gets a little closer, the Hammers have turned their attention to former-Arsenal player, Matteo Guendouzi as a potential replacement for their club captain.
Arsenal are set to return with an improved third bid for Declan Rice in the coming days as they look to end this long transfer saga and secure their number one target in a deal expected to be worth around £100million. The Gunners remain confident despite Manchester City’s interest as the player is said to be keen on staying in London and working under Mikel Arteta.
With Declan Rice nearing an exit, West Ham will have to make sure they replace their star man adequately ahead of next season. Matteo Guendouzi currently playing for Marseille is said to be a target for the Hammers this summer, according to a recent report from The Athletic.

The former Arsenal man spent two years in North London after being signed from FC Lorient in 2018 for a fee of £6million. However when Mikel Arteta came in, in December 2019, the Arsenal boss wasn’t impressed with the Frenchman’s attitude making him surplus to requirements the following summer.
The French international has shone during his two full seasons in France with Marseille, making him an attractive option for the Hammers. Matteo Guendouzi played 33 games in Ligue One this season, scoring two goals and recording four assists.
Matteo Guendouzi is expected to be valued at around £25million if West Ham do choose to replace Declan Rice with the former Arsenal man this summer.
