Arsenal are already preparing their moves for the summer transfer window with an out & out striker high up on Mikel Arteta’s agenda. It’s unlikely the club will be able to make any major signings this month due to the lack of finances, after spending over £200million on four new signings last summer.
However come the end of the season will be a different story with the Gunners set to qualify for the UEFA Champions League for a second year in a row. Arsenal will have money to spend and Mikel Arteta has his number one target.
The club have been heavily linked with a move for Ivan Toney in recent months, however it now appears another top European striker is at the top of the Gunners list ahead of the summer window.
We understand Arsenal have identified Victor Osimhen as their main striker target. Mikel Arteta sees him as the player who is going to take his side to the next level as the Gunners continue to look for glory both in the league and in the UEFA Champions League as well.
The Arsenal manager is desperate to add a proven goalscorer to his squad and Osimhen definitely fits that bill. The 24-year-old scored 26 goals in the Serie A last season which helped guide the Italian side to their first ever league title.
There’s no doubt Victor Osimhen is one of Europe’s most prolific strikers, which is why he is currently valued at around £110million. Arsenal would have to break their £105m transfer record paid for Declan Rice in the summer, if they want to sign the Napoli man ahead of next season.
The Nigerian striker has recently given an update on his future, by saying: “I have already made my decision on the next step to do at the end of the season I already made up my mind. I already have my plan, I know what I want to do, the next step I want to take.”
Osimhen is said to favour a move to the Premier League with Arsenal having monitored the player for a few years now. In fact, Victor Osimhen’s agent met with Edu at London Colney in the summer of 2022 to discuss a potential deal, but the Gunners were priced out of a move and went for Gabriel Jesus instead.
It now appears the club are set to reignite their interest in the Napoli striker. However Osimhen won’t come cheap or easy as Arsenal will likely face competition from the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United for the players’ signature.
