Arsenal stars Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus have heaped praises on Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes, amid reports linking him to a transfer to the Emirates Stadium.

Martinelli, who has played alongside Guimaraes for the Brazilian national team, described him as “one of the best midfielders in the world.”

“I know this boy, he’s good on the ball, so important for the team,” Martinelli told Sky Sports. “I’ve seen how skillful he is and the quality. He just became a father, congratulations to him, and he’s a very good guy as well.

“I think he will be so important for us at the World Cup as well,” Martinelli added, highlighting Guimaraes’s importance to the Brazilian national team.

Jesus, who has also played with Guimaraes for Brazil, echoed Martinelli’s sentiments. “He’s quiet but controls the game, he’s the balance on the pitch, so he’s so quality with the ball,” Jesus said. “Without the ball, he runs a lot, helps a lot the team, and then as a person, I just know him in the national team, but I can just feel he’s a good guy as well.”

Guimaraes, 26, has been a key player for Newcastle United since joining from Lyon in January 2022. He has made over 100 appearances and scored 14 goals, alongside providing 14 assists. Magpies boss Eddie Howe has revealed that the Brazil international has a £100m release clause in his contract until the end of June.

A move to Arsenal this summer looks very unlikely, but Martinelli and Jesus’s praise for Guimaraes highlights the midfielder’s quality and potential to make a significant impact at the highest level.

Guimaraes’s technical ability, work rate, and personality have made him a fan favourite at Newcastle, and his attributes would undoubtedly be a welcome addition to Arsenal’s squad.

While a move to Arsenal may not be imminent, the praise from Martinelli and Jesus serves as a testament to Guimaraes’s quality and potential to make a significant impact at the highest level.
