It’s no secret Arsenal need to sell before they buy this month in order to stay in line with FFP, after the club spent over £200million on four new signings in the summer. Arsenal sporting director Edu is working hard to try and get a few fringe players out the door to allow Mikel Arteta the chance to improve the squad in January.

Many Arsenal players have been linked with moves away from the club this month, including Eddie Nketiah, Emile Smith Rowe, Reiss Nelson and Aaron Ramsdale. However it’s a couple of fringe players who are expected to leave the club in January.

In an ideal world, Mikel Arteta would like to bring in a defender, as well as a new striker this month, especially with the Gunners’ lack of form in front of goal so far this season. However while the club have been strongly linked with moves for Dusan Vlahovic and Ivan Toney, they’re yet to do any real transfer business so far.

That could be set to change though, as according to the latest reports, Edu is working hard to shift both Mohamed Elneny and Cedric Soares this month with Mikel Arteta happy to let the pair leave. Both players are out of contract come the end of the season and have been told there is no chance of extensions.

Cedric is attracting interest from Turkey, as well as from the Championship while Egyptian star, Mohamed Elneny has had offers from Saudi Arabia, as well Turkey. Trabzonspor and Besiktas have both approached Arsenal in recent weeks to hold talks over a possible move for Elneny.

Cedric is also subject of interest from Turkey with Galatasaray recently expressing their desire to sign the experienced right-back this month, amid fears they could lose defender Sacha Boey, who has been linked with a move to North London.

Arsenal are looking for minimal fees for both players with Edu reluctant to let them leave on a free in January.

Mohamed Elneny is currently Arsenal’s longest serving player after joining the Gunners from FC Basel in 2016. While Cedric made the move from Southampton to North London in 2020 in a £5million deal.
