Facundo Torres is a left winger currently playing in the MLS for Orlando City. The Uruguayan has scored 13 goals and got 10 assists in 40 games for the American side since joining them at the start of the season.
Recent transfer rumours have linked Facundo Torres to the Premier League, with the 22-year-old confirming he’s been in contact with Arsenal before insisting he remains ‘focused with Orlando City’ at the moment.
It’s been reported in the past that The Gunners see Torres as a potential back-up to Bukayo Saka.
As per 90min, Arsenal made contact with Facundo Torres before he headed to the World Cup with Uruguay. Talks haven’t progressed any further since but they’re expected to resume soon with Arsenal still interested in the 22-year-old.
Facundo Torres: “I would love to play in Europe. It’s a dream I’ve had since I was a kid. At the moment I am focused on Orlando City. But La Liga or Premier League would be my targets, and that’s where the rumors are coming from,” he said laughing.
Orlando City signed the player in January 2022 for a club record $9m, after his standout run with Penarol. Torres’ rise since then has been nothing short of exceptional, with him even receiving a World Cup call-up late last year to top it off.
He also inspired the Florida team to lift the U.S. Open Cup for the first time in club history.
