Arsenal’s radar for the January transfer window seems to have locked onto Dominic Solanke, with the Bournemouth striker garnering praise from football legend Thierry Henry for his scintillating form.

Solanke, 26, has been the linchpin of Bournemouth’s success, propelling them through an impressive seven-match unbeaten streak. His astonishing 12-goal haul in 18 Premier League matches this season has set tongues wagging across the league.

Thierry Henry, speaking on Amazon Prime Sport, didn’t mince words when asked about standout performers this season. “Dominic Solanke, the way he is playing at Bournemouth. Not only him, the team is doing extremely well, but we have been waiting for him to be that player.

“I guess it was a bit too much when he was younger. But what he is doing right now is brilliant. I am happy for him because he did struggle for a little bit. Now he is looking good.” remarked Henry, acknowledging Solanke’s evolution into a top-tier player after initial struggles.

The spotlight on Solanke has intensified amid reports linking him to Arsenal. The Gunners, initially eyeing Brentford’s Ivan Toney, might redirect their focus towards Solanke, valued at £50 million. Toney, currently serving a ban, remains a target, but Brentford’s resolve to retain him complicates matters for Arsenal.

Mikel Arteta has hinted at potential squad enhancements in January. “If there is something that we can [do to] improve the squad and that needs appear… we are always going to be open to do that because we want to be stronger,” expressed Arteta, indicating the club’s openness to bolstering their ranks.

The fluidity of the transfer market, as Arteta highlighted, presents challenges and unpredictability. Arsenal, poised to reinforce their squad, are strategically assessing their options as the transfer window looms closer.

With Solanke’s remarkable form drawing widespread admiration and Arsenal’s quest to strengthen their forward line, the stage seems set for a potential high-profile move in the coming weeks.
