Juventus striker Moise Kean’s anticipated loan move to La Liga powerhouse Atletico Madrid has been abruptly called off after the 23-year-old failed a medical examination earlier this week. The setback comes amid a challenging season for the Italian international, who has been struggling to find the back of the net in his 12 recent appearances for the Serie A club.

Arsenal were in the market for a new striker this month and the former PSG forward was linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium, which never materialised.

Kean’s uncertain future during the January transfer window led to speculation about potential suitors, with Arsenal, Aston Villa, and Atletico Madrid among the clubs linked to the talented forward. Atletico Madrid seemed to be frontrunners in securing his services, particularly after Kean’s return to Turin on Tuesday following discussions in Spain.

However, the loan deal collapsed due to concerns over a lingering shin injury that has kept Kean sidelined since early December. Atletico Madrid were reportedly set to pay Juventus a fee of approximately £430,000 for the loan, but the medical evaluation raised doubts about the player’s immediate availability.

While Kean is now back on the market, his recent medical history may deter potential suitors looking for a short-term impact. The striker’s contract with Juventus is set to extend until 2025, following his transfer from Everton for £25 million last year.

Speculation also surrounds a potential move to Arsenal, with links possibly arising from Juventus’ interest in Gunners youngster Charlie Patino. Patino, currently on loan at Championship side Swansea City, has caught the eye of Juventus, who reportedly offered Kean to sweeten a deal for the 20-year-old English talent.

According to TeamTalk, Arsenal have placed a £25 million price tag on Patino, adding another layer of complexity to the ongoing transfer saga.
