Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has firmly stated that star striker Alexander Isak will remain with the Magpies, despite keen interest from Arsenal.

This declaration comes amidst speculations surrounding Isak’s future, particularly with Arsenal purportedly eyeing him as a transfer target.

The 24-year-old Isak, who joined Newcastle in a groundbreaking £63 million deal back in 2022, has been instrumental for the Magpies this season. His recent performance, which saw him netting two penalties in a thrilling 4-3 victory over West Ham, brings his goal tally to an impressive 18 for the campaign across all competitions.

While Isak’s ability on the field has caught the attention of top clubs like Arsenal, Newcastle remains resolute in retaining their prized asset. Despite Newcastle’s precarious financial situation, compounded by the looming threat of breaching Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations, Howe emphasised that Isak’s departure is not on the cards.

“He’s an outstanding talent and no one connected with Newcastle would want to lose him,” said the Magpies boss.

“He was excellent on Saturday. He didn’t score in open play but his two penalties were outstanding and his general play was very good. His link play, his athleticism, he looked in a really good place.”

Isak himself has previously hinted at potential changes during the international break, fueling speculation about his future. However, Newcastle’s stance appears firm, with Howe emphasising Isak’s pivotal role within the team structure.

As Newcastle strives for a strong finish in the Premier League, currently sitting eighth with 43 points, securing European football remains a priority. Their next challenge sees them facing Everton, who are battling relegation, at St James’ Park on Tuesday night.

While Arsenal’s interest in Isak looms large, Newcastle stands firm in their commitment to retaining the Swedish international, who undoubtedly remains focused on concluding the season on a high note.
