Arsenal loanee Nuno Tavares is facing an uncertain future with Marseille after it was revealed he’d been asked to leave training due to a lack of effort.

Nuno Tavares has produced a mixed campaign in France so far. He’s scored six goals in 25 appearances for Marseille this season which, from left-back, is a very impressive return.

However, a report from L’Equipe, via GFFN, has claimed that Tavares has been removed from a training session recently for what is being called a lack of effort. Croatian manager Igor Tudor is said to have come down hard on Tavares after making it clear to his players he expects certain standards that the Portuguese left-back wasn’t fulfilling.

Tudor on his approach to training…

“In my football, there is a feature, you have to run. And if you don’t… If I see one player that doesn’t run in training, I’ll say it once, twice and then on the third time of asking, I’ll intervene.”

Tavares, who signed for Arsenal for £8m, was hoping a loan spell in France would allow him to get back on track after a disappointing end to last season at the Emirates. However after making a positive start at Marseille, Tavares has had a number of poor displays recently.

As previously reported, Mikel Arteta is ready to sell the player this summer as Arsenal look ahead to competing in the Champions League for the first time since 2017.

Nuno Tavares doesn’t have the technical ability it seems to be an asset in a Mikel Arteta side with the Gunners hoping to make a profit on the £8million spent on the player in 2021.
