Arsenal defender Jakub Kiwior is reportedly considering an exit from the club due to concerns over his limited playing opportunities under Mikel Arteta.
Kiwior joined Arsenal in January from Spezia for £20 million and has struggled for game time, raising speculation about a potential departure in the upcoming January transfer window. With Euro 2024 on the horizon next summer, the 23-year-old is reportedly open to exploring options away from the Gunners.
According to sources from Viola News, Fiorentina have expressed interest in the Polish defender in January. The report suggests that the player himself is contemplating a mid-season move, indicating a willingness for a “change of scenery.”
However, Fiorentina might encounter hurdles in their pursuit of the central defender, as Arteta is reluctant to part ways with the Polish international, showing trust and confidence in his abilities.
Other top clubs in Italy like AC Milan and AS Roma are also interested in his services, while there are reports that Jose Mourinho is personally interested in Kiwior.
Arsenal wants to maintain a robust squad that will give them an edge in their bid to win the Premier League and make a mark in the UEFA Champions League this season.
Mikel Arteta sees Kiwior as a valuable asset, especially with uncertainties surrounding players like Jurrien Timber’s season-long absence due to injury, despite Kiwior’s current status as a squad player with limited appearances. He has made two starts and two substitute appearances in the Premier League this season.
Arsenal are also facing the danger of losing some other players in January due to limited playing time with Aaron Ramsdale, Fabio Vieira, Emile Smith Rowe and Thomas Partey. Ramsdale has lost his place in goal to David Raya and has been urged to find a club in January to have a chance of making the England squad for the Euros.
Vieira have been linked with a move away while Smith Rowe and Partey are also potential departures.
