The January transfer window is fast approaching with Arsenal expected to be busy as they look to win their first Premier League title in over 20 years this season. Many top clubs around Europe are enquiring about some of Arsenal’s players, however Mikel Arteta is keen to not lose further depth in his defence.
As reported last week, Roma and AC Milan are said to be looking closely at Jakub Kiwior ahead of the January transfer window. However, it now appears Mikel Arteta will block any transfer that allows the Polish defender to leave the club midway through the season.
Mikel Arteta also made a decision to block Jakub Kiwior from leaving North London during the last summer transfer window, with Kiwior seen currently as the perfect back-up option.
Jakub Kiwior joined Arsenal last January from Italian side, Speiza Calcio for a fee of £20million. The Polish centre-back has gone on to make 16 appearances for the Gunners since then, most notably when William Saliba got injured in February and Rob Holding dropped out of the side last season.

The Poland International may have only featured in four Premier League games so far this season, however with the injuries to Jurrien Timber and Thomas Partey, Arsenal can’t afford to lose anymore defensive depth ahead of a big second half of the season still to come.
William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes are Arsenal’s preferred centre-back pairing with Jakub Kiwior seen as a great option to provide quality in depth, with the player also able to operate at left-back as well.
The defender has said recently he’s willing to be patient for opportunities to play at such a big club which is clearly why the Arsenal manager was so desperate to keep him at the club for this season.
Jakub Kiwior: “If I start a match on the bench, I’m always prepared to go and play. I’m prepared for the team and for the coach to do my best. I think that everybody within the team has a very good relationship with the coach, the same as me.”
