Mikel Arteta is said to be a big fan of Real Madrid midfielder Aurélien Tchouaméni, however any transfer is unlikely this summer.
After completing the signing of Declan Rice, which is set to be announced next week, it’s been reported that Mikel Arteta wants to bring in one more midfielder ahead of the 2023/24 campaign.
Regardless of Thomas Partey’s future, it’s thought Arsenal still want to bring in one more central midfielder this summer, as well as Declan Rice, after losing Granit Xhaka to Bayer Leverkusen this week.
One midfielder Mikel Arteta is a huge fan of is Real Madrid star, Aurélien Tchouaméni. The 23-year-old joined the Spanish giants from AS Monaco in July 2022 for a fee of £80million. Last season the French international was a mainstay in the Madrid midfield, alongside the experienced heads of Luka Madrid and Toni Kroos.

Learning from his midfield partners is only going to make Tchouaméni into an even better player & with Modric and Kroos both coming to the ends of their careers, the 23-year-old is expected to be the present and future of the Los Blancos midfield for years to come.
Tchouaméni is a player that has been on Mikel Arteta’s radar for a long time, and he’s set to stay there with Real Madrid reluctant to sell the player this summer.

Arsenal are preparing for a complete midfield rebuild ahead of next season with Granit Xhaka already gone and Thomas Partey & Albert Sambi Lokonga expected to leave the club over the next month. With Tchouaméni not an option, The Gunners will have to look elsewhere for midfield depth this summer with Southampton’s Romeo Lavia high up the list of targets.

Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool are all showing an interest in Romeo Lavia this summer, however no club is yet to make a move for the 19-year-old.
Romeo Lavia joined Southampton from Manchester City’s academy at the beginning of last season for a fee of around £10million.
Lavia was one of the rare bright sparks in a struggling Southampton team during the 2022/23 campaign and according to reports the player is open for a new challenge this summer as he wants to play in England’s top division. The Southampton midfielder is valued at around £40million.
It’s been reported, The Gunners will focus on outgoings after the deals for Declan Rice and Jurriën Timber have been announced and then the club will look to add a couple more signings before the beginning of the season.
Romeo Lavia remains a target, as does Moises Caicedo, but any deal for the Brighton star will depend on how much revenue can be generated through outgoings before the end of the summer transfer window.
