Journalist Florian Plettenberg has said that both Arsenal and Liverpool are interested in Frankfurt’s highly rated midfielder, Jesper Lindstrom.
According to the very reliable journalist, both clubs have reportedly already made contact with Frankfurt over a possible move for the player ahead of the summer transfer window.
Plettenberg further added that Frankfurt may demand €50 million but realistically the price tag would fall between €35m-€45m.
However, Fabrizio Romano confirmed when speaking to caught offside that he is not aware of any contact being made.
He said:
“There has been some strong speculation about Arsenal and Liverpool being in contact over trying to sign Jesper Lindström from Eintracht Frankfurt.
I’d never deny info from others; can just say that I’m told it’s true that Premier League clubs are informed on Lindström but I’m not aware of proposals, bids or advanced negotiations yet. Price tag could be around €40m.”
Lindstrom has had an enjoyable campaign as he scored 9 goals and assisted 4 times across 31 games. Last season, he played a vital role in Frankfurt’s Europa League winning squad as he provided them with 4 assists.
He was named Bundesliga rookie of the season for the 2021/22 campaign and he also featured in each of the three games in the World cup, for his country, Denmark.
Arsenal are looking to add much needed depth to their midfield options this summer. Their current options are very limited and they need quality midfielders who can step up and contribute to the team when required to do so, especially with Champions League football set to return to the Emirates Stadium next season.
Liverpool are also actively searching for midfielders in the transfer market. Their current options, which include Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, are both running out of contracts at the end of the season. And Thiago Alcantara, while a very strong option hasn’t always quite been available due to the constant injuries this season.
Liverpool are in desperate need of a midfielder and are linked with big names such as Jude Bellingham, Mason Mount and World Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister. Arsenal have also been heavily linked with the likes of Declan Rice and Moises Caicedo. However, these players also come with a big price tag.
Lindstrom may just prove to be exactly what the two clubs need. The two clubs will definitely be looking around to invest their money well and the Danish midfielder looks to be a good option at around €40 million.
