It’s no secret Barcelona are looking to offload quite a few first-team players this summer, as they prepare to bring back club hero, Lionel Messi from PSG.

There’s many players who the Spanish giants are looking to sell during the summer transfer window, one player reportedly being Ferran Torres who arrived from Manchester City in January last year.

Barcelona paid a reported fee of €50 million for the Spanish forward, after the player impressed under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City. However, he has failed to live up to expectations in Spain. While he has shown glimpses of his quality, he has failed to be consistent in doing so.

Torres has made 30 appearances for Barcelona in the league this season, scoring four goals & recording two assists. He’s not been able to find the form that got him the move to the Spanish giants from Manchester City.

Barcelona are looking to raise funds as well as reduce their wage bill this summer and they are open to the sale of Ferran Torres with many clubs around Europe showing an interest in the player. He has most recently been linked with a move to Atletico Madrid, as well as Arsenal.

He’s a player Mikel Arteta knows well after their time together at Manchester City and with the Arsenal boss looking to add quality in depth ahead of a return to the Champions League next season, Ferran Torres could be the perfect player to add to his squad.

Bukayo Saka has played every single Premier League game for Arsenal over the last two seasons. He’s looked visibly burned out towards the end of the 2022/23 campaign, so bringing in a player who can provide quality in depth for the 21-year-old is high up Arsenal’s to-do list this summer.

The Gunners were interested in Ferran Torres in January, however Mikel Arteta wanted Premier League quality and decided to go with Leandro Trossard instead.

Arsenal aren’t the only Premier League side showing an interest in Ferran Torres, with Unai Emery at Aston Villa also a big fan of the 23-year-old.

Aston Villa are set to appoint Mateu Alemany as their new sporting director right after his term as sporting director of Barcelona comes to an end on 30th June. Alemany could look to bring some players in from his former club and Torres is one the options being spoken about ahead of next season.

Ferran Torres isn’t the only player Lionel Messi’s Barcelona return could open the door for Arsenal to make a move for. As previously reported, Raphinha is another player the Gunners are keeping a close eye on ahead of the summer.
