Declan Rice is edging closer to a West Ham exit in the upcoming summer transfer window with further speculation surrounding the English midfielder.
In previous years there have been many clubs chasing Declan Rice however with his current contact having only 12 months remaining, the chances are most definitely increasing. With the Hammers also fighting for survival in the Premier League there seems to be an element of just a matter of time before his departure is imminent.
The two clubs who are favourites to grab the signature of the 24-year-old are both London giants Arsenal and Chelsea. Many have stated their opinion on where Rice should apply his services with Danny Murphy also mentioning the following:
“Declan Rice has to leave West Ham. Arsenal would be a great option and I think he’d be an automatic starter. The lure of Chelsea is also strong, having grown up supporting the club and playing in their academy.”
The Gunners having now become a more attractive option with a potential League title to their name this season whilst also all but guaranteed Champions League football for next campaign. Rice has always expressed the desire to play at the highest level and the North London outfit are able to promise that.

The move could also potentially see him slot right into the midfield alongside side Ghanaian international Thomas Partey. A trio of Partey, Rice and Odegaard could be one which sets alight English and European football for many years to come.
Chelsea on the other hand may not be able to offer Champions League football bar a miracle in finishing in the top 4 or potentially winning the Champions League this season. However the magnitude of the club speaks volumes and the simple fact Declan Rice grew up applying his trade within the Chelsea academy could play a pivotal role in the decision.
However the constant managerial change at the realm in Stamford Bridge alongside questionable strategies in the transfer market the move to West London comes at a risk for Rice. Also with the recent signing on Enzo Fernandez in the same position, that could put some doubt in Declan Rice’s mind as to whether Chelsea is the best option for his next club.
Regardless whoever gets their hands on the juggernaut of a midfielder they will have a star for years on end. A player with plenty of attributes from his ability to drive with the ball, intercept play and assert his presence in the box. The definition of an all rounded player.
From becoming the face of West Ham to the whole of London chasing after him. The 24 year old’s story must continue. Where that’ll be is a question we’ll have to wait till summer to find out.
