Jakub Kiwior is soon set to complete his transfer to Arsenal for an initial fee of £17.5m, plus £3.5m in add-ons.
The Serie A defender will reportedly sign on an initial contract to 2027, with an option to extend by a year.
According to reports in Italy, several clubs tried to sign Kiwior before Arsenal secured a deal for him.
Borussia Dortmund led the chasing pack, making an offer of €22m (£19.4m). Atletico Madrid, RB Leipzig, Brentford, and Leicester City all also made offers for the player.
However Spezia turned them all down in favour of Arsenal’s bid, and the player will be announced as an Arsenal player any moment now.
The player signed his contract & completed his medical over the weekend. The 22-year-old was even at the Emirates yesterday to witness Arsenal’s 3-2 victory over Manchester United.
For those unfamiliar with the player, Kiwior is a centre back who can also play left back & defensive midfield.
He’s a very versatile player and seems to be a great squad option for Arteta in case of an injury or suspension to the backline.
