As per The Athletic, Fulham are in talks with Arsenal over a deal to sign right back, Cedric Soares.

Marco Silva, the Fulham coach, has previously worked with the player in Portugal, and feels that the right-back would add experience and quality to a high-flying Fulham team.

A loan or permanent transfer are both being discussed, however as it stands, no deal is close to completion just yet but it’s moving in the right direction. The main obstacle to overcome is Cedric’s salary as he’ll have to take a pay-cut in order to move to The Cottage.

Cedric has struggled for playing time this season and has fallen down the pecking order in the Arsenal ranks, as Ben White is the first choice right-back, and Takehiro Tomiyasu is the one providing competition.

Cedric came to Arsenal in 2020 after playing for 4 years at Southampton, he has made 59 appearances for Arsenal since arriving three years ago.

Silva has previously confirmed that Fulham is looking to provide competition for dutch right-back Kenny Tete and last month Silva did not rule out a move for Cedric.

Cedric leaving could pave the way for Arsenal to make a move for Ivan Fresneda who Mikel Arteta is a big fan of.
