According to reports, Arsenal have a new lead target to sign ahead of next season who will provide cover for Bukayo Saka, who is set to sign a new contract in North London very soon.
Bayer Leverkusen winger Moussa Diaby is Arsenal’s number one winger target come the summer transfer window, according to the reliable Sami Mokbel.
Mikel Arteta is said to be a big fan of the 23-year-old, with the player being closely monitored by the Gunners. However, Arsenal will face competition from teams around Europe for Diaby’s signature this summer.
This evening’s reports say that Arsenal will have significant funds to spend in the summer, with Arteta keen to close the gap to Manchester City, and will try to sign a centre-back, centre-midfielder, winger and a versatile striker ahead of next season.
Moussa Diaby joined Bayer Leverkusen four years ago for a fee of £13.2million however if he is to leave the German side at the end of the season, he’s expected to be sold for more than quadruple what he was brought for back in 2019.
The French winger has scored 14 goals in 42 appearances across all competitions this season for Leverkusen and is having his best goal-scoring season yet at just 24-years-old.
Diaby’s exit this summer has been discussed within the club’s hierarchy, who are looking to receive a bumper fee for the in-demand France international, which could rise to over £50million.
Arsenal were interested in the Frenchman during the January transfer window, however Leverkusen said the player wasn’t for sale and the Gunners chose to sign Leandro Trossard instead. However the players availability is expected to change come the end of the season.
Bukayo Saka has agreed a new long-term contract at the Emirates with the official announcement from Arsenal expected to come before the end of the season. The 21-year-old is one of England’s most exciting prospects so tying Saka down to a new long-term contract is as good as any signing the Gunners will go on to make this summer.
Saka has 24 goal contributions in 34 Premier League games this season and is a big reason why Arsenal find themselves in a title race with Manchester City going into the last few games of the season.
