Former Newcastle United star Papiss Cisse has voiced his belief that Alexander Isak will emerge as the Premier League’s Golden Boot winner and become one of the world’s top strikers if he remains at Newcastle United next season.

Ahead of Newcastle’s clash with Burnley, where Isak aims to add to his impressive goal tally and support Eddie Howe’s Europa League aspirations, Cisse, who famously scored spectacular goals during his time at St James’ Park, expressed his admiration for the young Swedish striker.

Cisse, who played a pivotal role in Alan Pardew’s Newcastle side securing European football, highlighted Isak’s exceptional form, with nine goals in seven games and a total of 19 league goals this season. He praised Isak’s composure in front of goal, emphasising his ability to capitalise on even the slightest opportunity.

“Honestly, when Isak is in front of goal I always smile! He is relaxed. I like how he plays. Give him one chance and he takes it. Give him half a chance and he will make something happen himself. He is some kind of striker! There is no limit for him. If he pushes himself a little bit more, he is going to be the top scorer in the Premier League.”

The former Newcastle No. 9 dismissed speculations linking Isak with a move to Arsenal, asserting his belief that Isak can continue to shine at Newcastle. Cisse emphasised the importance of Isak’s contribution to the team’s attacking prowess, suggesting that his partnership with Callum Wilson could elevate Newcastle to a top-four finish if both remain fit.

Reflecting on Isak’s qualities, Cisse commended the striker’s technical ability, agility, and prowess in finishing, highlighting his potential to excel at the highest level of football.

“This season Erling Haaland is 21 this season, Cole Palmer has 20 and Isak has 19,” he added. “He is there.

“For a long time, Newcastle have not had a striker who can score goals like that. Long, long time. He is happy. I would say to him keep enjoying what you are doing, well done!

“The No 9, Callum Wilson is doing well too. But if they can have both of them fit, they can be top four. Sometimes they have too many injures. Isak is a quality striker, and finisher.

“He’s tall, can keep the ball, technically he is great, the dribbling is easy for him. The finishing… that is the main thing. You have the mind for the final finishing.”

In Cisse’s view, Isak’s presence provides Newcastle with a genuine goal-scoring threat they’ve lacked for some time. He encouraged Isak to maintain his form and enjoyment of the game, underlining the striker’s significance to Newcastle’s aspirations for success.
