Arsenal have set their sights on Everton powerful midfielder Amadou Onana ahead of the summer, who is surprisingly one of the fastest players in the Premier League.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Gunners have been linked with the Belgian maestro for an extended period, recognising his immense potential as an important addition to their squad.

Amadou Onana, 22, initially caught Arsenal’s attention before he sealed a move to Everton from Lille. Having spent over 18 months with the Toffees, the midfielder has left an indelible mark with his impressive performances, showcasing all the attributes desired in a top-tier midfielder.

Romano suggests that it’s only a matter of time before Onana departs Goodison Park for a bigger club, with Arsenal emerging as a strong contender.

As the summer transfer window looms, Arsenal faces the impending departures of key midfield players, with contracts for Jorginho and Mohamed Elneny nearing expiration. Additionally, there’s speculation surrounding the potential exit of Thomas Partey. Regardless of these uncertainties, the Gunners are resolute in their pursuit of a new midfielder, and Onana has remained a persistent point of interest.

Last month’s transfer window saw Arsenal naming Onana as their top target, but Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations hindered their attempts to secure his services. Nevertheless, Romano affirms that Arsenal continues to closely monitor Onana’s situation and remains well-informed about his status.

The journalist suggests a significant likelihood of Onana leaving Everton in the summer transfer window.

In his Daily Briefing, Romano said, “There will be many clubs keen on signing Amadou Onana this summer, for sure. Arsenal appreciate him and are well informed, but they have to decide what kind of player they want to sign, and it won’t be decided in February; it will take some time. In any case, Onana is attracting interest, and I think he has a good chance to move in the summer.”

Apart from his exceptional footballing abilities, Onana boasts an imposing physical presence, standing at 6ft 5in tall, making him one of the tallest outfield players in the Premier League. Contrary to expectations for players of such stature, Onana surprised everyone this season by registering a top speed of 36.65kmph, as per the Premier League’s official website

This impressive feat makes him the fastest player in the Everton squad, surpassing the speed records of Arsenal players, including William Saliba, Gabriel Martinelli, and Bukayo Saka.
