Mohamed Elneny has not been included in the last few Arsenal match day squads due to the knee injury he picked up in training a couple of weeks ago.

Mikel Arteta admitted in his press conference earlier today that there is growing concerns over Mohamed Elneny’s injury, which seems worse than first feared & could force Arsenal back into the market for midfield cover before the transfer window shuts.

As per the Daily Mail, there are fears within the Arsenal camp that the injury that Elneny has picked up could keep him out for the rest of the season.

Also as reported by the Daily Mail, Arsenal have rejected a loan offer from Monaco for midfielder, Albert Sambi Lokonga today.

Mikel Arteta is reluctant to let players out, particularly in midfield, with the amount of games that are coming up for Arsenal as they continue their charge for the Premier League title.

Arsenal are expected to move for West Ham’s Declan Rice in the summer which means they could look for short-term solutions before Tuesday’s deadline this month.

Arsenal remain in the market to add another midfielder and a right back this window with Cedric Soares closing on a move to Fulham.

Ivan Fresneda is the man Mikel Arteta is after, once Cedric’s departure is complete. However they’re facing fierce competition from Borussia Dortmund for the Spanish right back’s signature.

With less than a week left of the January transfer window, there’s no doubt Arsenal will be busy right till the very end. Mikel Arteta wants a right back and more importantly a central midfielder.

Let’s see if he gets what he wants… he usually does!
