Arsenal, under the management of Mikel Arteta since 2019, have witnessed a remarkable resurgence, establishing themselves once again as one of the country’s top teams. With the summer transfer window approaching, the Gunners are expected to be active as Arteta aims to strengthen his squad further.

Areas of focus for Arsenal include bolstering their midfield and attack, with particular attention to providing cover for wingers Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli, as well as reinforcing their striking options.

CaughtOffside has reported that Arsenal have been closely monitoring the progress of 19-year-old striker Samu Omorodion, drawing comparisons to former Chelsea and Atletico Madrid star Diego Costa.

Currently on loan at La Liga side Deportivo Alaves from Atletico Madrid, Omorodion has attracted interest from several clubs, including Arsenal and Liverpool.

However, West Ham appears to be leading the race for Omorodion’s signature, having expressed their interest to the player’s agent. Atletico Madrid could entertain offers in the region of €60 million (£51 million) for the towering 6ft 4in forward, who is keen on securing regular first-team football next season.

Born to Nigerian parents in Melilla, Omorodion began his youth career at Granada before joining Atletico Madrid in 2023. Loaned out to Alaves for the 2023/24 season, he has impressed with nine goals and one assist in 30 La Liga appearances.

Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has previously likened Omorodion to Costa, noting the striker’s pace as a distinguishing factor. Omorodion himself expressed appreciation for the comparison but emphasised his desire to carve out his own path in football.

“Being compared to a player who has made history at Atleti is always appreciated, but I am Samu, and I want to write my own story. I feel more comfortable running into space because I am a powerful player and I feel dominant in that aspect.”

Described as a “complete forward” and a “modern target man” by Football Talent Scout’s Jacek Kulig, Omorodion has been tipped for a bright future in the game, drawing comparisons to Real Sociedad and Nigeria forward Umar Sadiq.
