Arsenal’s number one target ahead of next season is West Ham’s captain, Declan Rice, however he’s not the only Hammers player the Gunners are keeping a close eye on this summer…

West Ham are currently in the relegation zone, however they do have a game in hand on the teams around them. If the Hammers are to get relegated this season then Arsenal could look to swoop for two of David Moyes’ players ahead of next season.

Mikel Arteta is planning to move for Declan Rice in the summer and the England star has been linked to the Emirates for some time. However, the North London club could to bring in another West Ham star in the form of Lucas Paqueta.

With Thomas Partey & Granit Xhaka not getting any younger, the central midfield area is Mikel Arteta’s number one priority ahead of next season & the two West Ham midfielders are the top of the list, as well as other players from around Europe, including Lazio’s Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.

According to a report from Fichajes, if the Hammers get relegated then the Gunners will look to bring in the 25-year-old this summer as Arteta’s squad will need added quality ahead of their return to the Champions League.

Paqueta only joined West Ham last summer for a fee of £42.95million but has failed to hit the heights expected of him. Lucas Paqueta has scored two goals & got two assists for West Ham in the Premier League this season.

The Brazil international is no doubt a talent and maybe being around a higher calibre of player will bring out the best in the former Lyon man.

Rice is a definite target for Arsenal but whether they move for Paqueta as well, remains to be seen.
