Celta Vigo’s rising star Gabri Veiga has had as astonishing campaign in his breakout year in La Liga this season.
The 21-year-old has assorted himself as one of the best young midfield prospects in Europe with the Spaniard currently applying his trade in his home nation. This has promoted many clubs across Europe and most notably in the Premier League to become interested as the transfer market begins to open next week.
Veiga once again proved why he has a £34.4 million release clause set on him as he stole the headlines in Celta Vigo’s impressive and shocking 2-1 win over La Liga champions Barcelona in their final game of the season last weekend. The young sensation grabbed both goals to seal the victory which pushed his league tally to 11 goals this season. He also has four assists throughout the 2022/23 campaign.

With 15 goal contributions to his name in the league this season it’s without doubt Veiga has proven he can produce the numbers as an attacking outlet in midfield. This potentially showcases why the youngster would be a perfect fit to replace Arsenal’s Granit Xhaxa who is set to leave this summer. The Swiss midfielder had his most impressive season in an Arsenal shirt so far in 2022/23, scoring seven goals and recording seven assists from his more attacking role.
Mikel Arteta needs to replace them attacking numbers next season and hopefully improve on them, with Arsenal looking to bring in two new central midfielders this summer. Declan Rice remains the number one target and it now appears Gabri Veiga is being targeted as well ahead of next season.
As the Gunners have shown interest in the Spaniard he would be able to slot into Xhaxa’s position with a sense of ease as it is nothing new when being asked to produce the numbers whilst dictating and dominating play.
However Arsenal face competition from London rivals, Chelsea who are ready to push hard to secure the signing of the Celta Vigo midfielder. The Blues are prepared to pay the players’ £34.4million release clause so Arsenal will need to act fast if they want to secure the signing of Gabri Veiga.
The fee isn’t in question to be an issue for either club however with Mikel Arteta’s side being able to offer Champions League football over their London rivals this could prove pivotal in the pursuit of one of the hottest talents in Spain.
