According to reports, Brighton’s latest bid for young defender has topped Arsenal’s offer ahead of the summer window.
It was reported earlier this week that Arsenal had a bid rejected by Galatasaray for right back Sacha Boey. Arsenal have been linked with the Frenchman since around March, when news emerged that he was seen as a priority signing by Gunners boss Mikel Arteta.
And now Turkish journalist Nevzat Dindar has reported that Arsenal have been outbid by Brighton & Hove Albion in the race for Boey.
343 Digital reported that Galatasaray vice-president Erden Timur approached another Premier League team about signing Boey, besides Arsenal, during his recent London visit to negotiate the sale of the player. They shared that the club he met are ready to pay €18.5 million in cash for the player. Erden Timur responded to that club that he was looking forward to a figure of around €25 million instead for the right back.
And then Dindar, in a quote tweet, shared that it’s his understanding that Brighton were the team to make that bid – which was higher than Arsenal’s bid of €17m.
So it seems that Boey looks destined to play in the English Premier League next season, with both Arsenal and Brighton showing their serious intent in snapping up the Frenchman. Boey, who played for Rennes in his native France before making the move to Turkey in 2021, has a growing reputation.
The fact that Brighton, a club notorious for spotting great, young talent early, are in for the player would suggest that he has a bright future in the game. And his profile fits the bill perfectly for the type of player that Edu and Arteta like.
It’s now just a case of seeing whether Arsenal will up their offer and if they can convince the club and the player that The Emirates is where Boey should be playing next season.
