It’s no secret Arsenal are in the market for a new striker this month with Mikel Arteta’s current options not firing so far this season. The Gunners have been linked with moves for Victor Osimhen, Ivan Toney and Dusan Vlahovic, however all three are likely too expensive for Arsenal during the January transfer window.

This has lead to Arsenal looking at cheaper alternatives this month, with Mikel Arteta still determined to improve his options, despite the lack of spending power the club currently have.

According to Sun Sport, Arsenal have this week submitted a £22million offer to Getafe for Spanish striker Borja Mayoral. The bid has since been rejected by the Spanish club who are looking for a fee of around £38million.

Mayoral has scored 12 goals and recorded one assist in La Liga so far this season. At 26-years-old the striker is a well experienced professional having played for the likes of Real Madrid, Roma and Wolfsburg during his career.

The 26-year-old has been followed closely by Arsenal since November. It currently remains to be seen whether Arsenal will submit a second offer for the Spanish striker, or whether the club will now look at alternative options.
