Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly emerged victorious in the race to sign the highly coveted Brazilian prodigy, Gabriel Moscardo, despite strong interest from Arsenal and other Premier League clubs.

Arsenal were reportedly monitoring the development of the youngster but did not follow through with a bid. While it was reported that indicated Chelsea were leading the pursuit for the 18-year-old talent from Corinthians.

However, Arsenal, Liverpool, and Barcelona also expressed keen interest in securing his signature. PSG have now made a decisive move, seemingly clinching the services of the young sensation.

Gabriel Moscardo had previously revealed Chelsea’s interest in an interview last month, stating, “There was a proposal from Chelsea months ago.” However, the player emphasised his focus on giving his best on the field until the end of the season, hinting at promising developments thereafter.

The young talent recently earned a call-up to the Brazil U23 squad, marking 18 appearances in the Brazilian league this season, contributing with a solitary goal as Corinthians finished 13th in the standings. Currently on a break following the end of the Brazilian season earlier this month, Moscardo is set to embark on a new chapter in Paris.

Corinthians President Augusto Melo confirmed Moscardo’s decision to join PSG, expressing regret at the departure but acknowledging the player’s choice. Melo stated in an interview with Radio Bandeirantes, “Unfortunately, the cycle has come to an end, his mind is elsewhere, we gave him the freedom to choose, may he be happy. He’s heading to Paris.”

Arsenal are still in the Brazilian market for top talents and will hope to secure a deal for Santos youngster Marcos Leonardo, with Edu reportedly making a bid for the striker ahead of January.
