Barcelona B are working on signing an Arsenal midfielder this summer, according to recent reports.

LondonWorld have reported that Barcelona B want to sign Arsenal youngster Miguel Azeez on a permanent transfer this summer. The Spanish side compete in the third tier of their domestic system and are keen on bringing in the 20-year-old which would see the players’ 15 year stint in North London come to an end.

Miguel Azeez came through the Arsenal academy at Hale End after joining the club as a 6-year-old in 2008.

The Arsenal youngster spent the first half of last season on loan at Ibiza in the Spanish Segunda Division. The 20-year-old made 11 appearances in Spain before leaving to join Wigan in the January transfer window.

However, Azeez’s stint on loan in the Championship was a bit of a failure as he only managed just two appearances for Wigan in the six months he was at the club. Both of the appearances came in the first month of his loan spell under Kolo Toure.

Whilst the youngster still has one year remaining on his current Arsenal contract, Barcelona are confident that they will be able to reach an agreement with the Gunners which will see the club secure a percentage of any future sale.

It’s likely Arsenal will allow Miguel Azeez to leave the club this summer after a few failed loan spells in recent years. It appears the 20-year-old needs a fresh start in order to kick-on with his career and Barcelona look to be the team to offer him that chance.

Azeez would not be the first Arsenal youth product to swap north London for Spain, with Marcus McGuane joining Barcelona B in 2017.

Miguel Azeez isn’t the only midfielder expected to leave North London this summer with the likes of Granit Xhaka and Thomas Partey also linked with moves away from the club on a permanent basis ahead of next season. Sambi Albert Lokonga could also leave the Gunners on loan with Burnley interested.
