Aston Villa are once again on the trail of Arsenal midfielder Emile Smith Rowe, that’s according to TalkSport.
The Birmingham based club were previously in for the Arsenal academy graduate when they had a £30m bid rejected back in 2021.
But the presence of former Arsenal manager, Unai Emery, in the dugout at Villa Park may mean that The Villains will chance their arm again.
Injuries have heavily disrupted Smith Rowe’s season at The Emirates. One of the standout players for Arsenal last year, Smith Rowe has become a bit of a forgotten man this season with the likes of Martin Odegaard, Thomas Partey, Granit Xhaka and Bukayo Saka becoming the stars of the show in that midfield area for Arteta’s side. Even Reiss Nelson has seen a lot of action recently, as showcased by his last minute winner against Bournemouth.
With that said, it seems unlikely that Arsenal would call it quits on Smith Rowe just yet. His performances have shown that there’s a top quality player still there and he’s still got the skills to bring something productive to the team.
Whether Villa put an amount of the table that would change the minds of those in charge at Arsenal might be another matter. Unai Emery has been a revelation since being named Aston Villa manager and it wouldn’t be a surprise of the hierarchy there back him with a big transfer kitty next season.
