Arsenal could see a major change in their midfield ahead of the 2023/34 campaign as another central midfielder faces a potential exit.

It’s been well reported that Arsenal are preparing to have one of their biggest transfer windows in the club’s history. The aim is to bring in enough quality in depth to compete in the Champions League and attempt to dethrone Manchester City as the champions of England, after Pep Guardiola’s side have now won five of the last six league titles in England.

Current players such as Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka could well see their chapters at Arsenal come to an end this summer.

According to The Athletic, Thomas Partey’s representatives and the club are both working together on finding a potential exit for the midfielder this summer. Arsenal will consider their options if a suitable opportunity arises for a sale.

Thomas Partey is currently being linked with a move away from North London with two Serie A clubs interested in signing the Ghanaian this summer. The 30-year-old is also attracting interest from Saudi Arabia which can only be good news for the Gunners in order to drive up the price.

Partey has two years left on his Arsenal contract so now could be the best time to sell the player for maximum value. Granit Xhaka is also set to join German side Bayer Leverkusen very soon which means Arsenal could have a completely different midfield at the start of next season.

Thomas Partey was an important part of the Arsenal side that went head-to-head with Manchester City for the Premier League title last season. The Ghanaian made 33 Premier League appearances during the 2022/23 campaign, scoring three goals. Arsenal will have to make sure they replace him well, while also adding depth in the same position if they want to go one better and win their first league title in 19 years next season.

Arsenal are getting closer to making their first signing of the summer with the club in advanced negotiations with West Ham over the transfer for Declan Rice. He remains the Gunners’ number one target this summer and Arsenal are confident they will get the deal wrapped up soon.

Mikel Arteta wants more than one midfielder in ahead of next season, especially if Thomas Partey is to leave the club with Southampton midfielder, Romeo Lavia also a potential target. Arsenal could make a move for the 19-year-old after the deal for Declan Rice is wrapped up.

Signing the West Ham captain would be a big statement for Arsenal as they look to push on next season in the Premier League and in the Champions League for the first time in seven years. However if they do pull it off, signing Declan Rice must be just the start of a very busy summer window at the Emirates Stadium.
