Arsenal have reportedly learnt the potential price of a key target ahead of the summer transfer window, but the Gunners are not alone in chasing the star’s signature.

Eintracht Frankfurt defender Willian Pacho has impressed in the Bundesliga, and has been a key reason behind the German club’s push for European football – which has caught the eyes of scouts across the globe.

Among those reportedly keen on signing the 22-year-old is Arsenal, who have, according to Florian Plettenberg, inquired about the defender to his club ahead of a possible summer move.

According to Plettenberg, Pacho could be available for between £43m (€50m) and £52m (€60m) which, given the fees that some defenders have commanded in recent years, like the £80m (€90m) that Manchester United paid for Harry Maguire back in 2019, seems a very reasonable fee.

The Ecuadorian is a left-footed central defender, which is an area that Arsenal are keen to strengthen given Jakub Kiwior’s increasingly important role at left-back this season, leaving little cover for Gabriel Magalhaes.

Despite their interest, Mikel Arteta’s side are not the only ones to have laid the groundwork for a potential deal, with Premier League title rivals Liverpool having also reportedly inquired about the defender.

With managerial uncertainty in Merseyside, a move looks complicated, but their interest is a clear indication that there is a long way to go for this deal, which could well drag late into the summer given the numerous interested parties.
