Arsenal are not messing about this transfer window as they’re determined to close the gap on Manchester City after narrowly missing out on the Premier League title last season.
Mikel Arteta said at the end of last season that the club needed a huge summer if they wanted to go one better next season and win the Premier League title, as well as being back in the Champions League for the first time in seven years. It appears the people at the top of the club have listened to the Arsenal manager with over £200million set to be spent within the first few weeks of the summer window.
Not only is Kai Havertz through the door, but Declan Rice is expected in imminently with Jurrien Timber also set to join the Gunners after that and the spending is not going to stop there, according to Football Transfers.
The report states that Arsenal are turning their attention to Real Madrid’s Aurelien Tchouameni if they miss out on their other midfield targets in Brighton’s Moises Caicedo and Southampton’s Romeo Lavia this summer.
Moises Caicedo is closing in on a move to Chelsea, however he wasn’t a top target for the Gunners this summer with Declan Rice their top priority. Romeo Lavia is an option but could be deemed too expensive with Southampton valuing the player at £45million if he is to leave the club ahead of next season.

Tchouameni had a mixed first season at the club after moving to Madrid from Monaco, but is undoubtedly a star of the future. Real president Florentino Perez has mentioned before that Tchouameni is the future of the club in the middle of the park, so a transfer may be difficult. However Arsenal do have a good relationship with the Spanish giants after deals for Martin Odegaard and Dani Ceballos negotiated in the past.
The 23-year-old French midfielder made 33 appearances for Real Madrid in the league last season, as well as featuring 10 times in the UEFA Champions League. To play alongside Toni Kroos and Luka Madrid that regularly will only add valuable experience to his game at such a young age.
Real Madrid’s stance on selling Aurelien Tchouameni could change if the club end up making a move for France star striker Kylian Mbappe.
Mbappe would likely require a world record transfer fee. If that’s the case, the club will surely need to sell a player after already making a big money signing in the former of Englishman Jude Bellingham at an initial £88m.
Real may feel that Tchouameni will get them a healthy transfer fee that can help ease them in regards to FFP rules if they do wish to make a move and Arsenal would look to test the waters if that’s the case. The Gunners are long term admirers of Tchouameni and therefore it’s not that much of a surprise that they’re potentially looking at him again this summer.
