According to reports, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is interested in a reunion with Chelsea winger Raheem Sterling come the end of the season as the Gunners prepare for their return to the Champions League next season.
Arsenal haven’t featured in the Champions League for seven years now, however the Gunners are 13 games away from making it back to Europe’s biggest stage & once they do, Mikel Arteta is expected to have a hefty transfer pot to improve his squad come the summer transfer window.
Could Raheem Sterling be the man?
Raheem Sterling only moved from Manchester City to Chelsea at the beginning of the season, however so far he’s been unable to find his best form while in London.
It’s well known Mikel Arteta is a big fan of the 28-year-old after the pair spent three years working together in Manchester, when the Spaniard was Pep Guardiola’s assistant.
Sterling has only scored four Premier League goals during his time at Chelsea so far, however injuries have meant he has only started 11 games so far this season.
Speaking back in 2020, Raheem Sterling spoke about Mikel Arteta:
“The manager trusted him here and he had a lot of influence on the players here and the team as well. So I knew once he went into Arsenal that it would be a great opportunity for him but also he would definitely implement what he wanted to bring in. And he’s a person that will put his foot down and not let things slide as you can see with the boys at Arsenal.”
