Arsenal have reportedly made a “formal” bid to secure the services of a £52 million player, identified as a key target for manager Mikel Arteta’s vision in a strategic move to bolster their squad ahead of next season.

Sporting director Edu is said to be orchestrating an ambitious plan to make four key signings for the North London outfit during the summer transfer window. These potential acquisitions span various positions on the field, signalling Arsenal’s intent to strengthen their roster across the board.

From fortifying the defence to bolstering the attacking lineup, it’s understood that Edu aims to recruit a goalkeeper, defender, midfielder, and forward, as reported by Simon Collings. This strategic approach indicates Arsenal’s commitment to building upon their recent successes, with the club poised for what promises to be a transformative offseason regardless of their Premier League title prospects.

Despite the competition, Arsenal’s pursuit of excellence has propelled them to within reach of a remarkable points tally, potentially culminating in a season-ending total of 89 points pending the outcome of their final fixture against Everton. Such a feat would have historically sufficed to clinch the Premier League title in the majority of seasons since the start of the league, highlighting Arsenal’s growth since Arteta took over in December 2019.

As the club prepares for a big summer window, speculation swirls regarding potential departures and arrivals within Arsenal midfield ranks. Reports suggest that offers are being entertained for midfielder Thomas Partey, whose contract has entered its final year, while Mohamed Elneny is set to leave as a free agent.

Among the names linked with a midfield berth at Arsenal is Real Sociedad star Martin Zubimendi. The 25-year-old Spaniard has garnered widespread recognition for his stellar performances in La Liga, emerging as a prime target for the Gunners. Arsenal have reportedly tabled a “formal” bid of £43 million for Zubimendi, signalling their intent to secure his services ahead of competing suitors.

According to reliable sources, Zubimendi’s skill set has earned plaudits from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who deems the midfielder as the “perfect” addition to Arsenal’s squad.

“My personal feeling is that Zubimendi would be fantastic, even if [Amadou] Onana and Douglas [Luiz] have the advantage of both already knowing the Premier League,” said Romano in an interview with CaughtOffside three months ago.

“Zubimendi is [a] fantastic player, he can help with his vision, quality and intelligence on the ball – he’s the perfect midfielder.”
