An Arsenal star is reportedly set to sign a new contract with the club imminently, as he looks to extend his stay with the Gunners after an excellent season.

Jorginho’s contract has been due to expire in just a matter of weeks, at the end of June, with a one-year extension option, but the Italian midfielder has now been offered, and is expected to sign, a new deal to stay at Arsenal.

The news was broken by the ever-reliable David Ornstein, and comes after a very successful season – where the 32-year-old has shown his ability and importance both as a starter and impact player.

Jorginho only joined Arsenal in January 2023, in what was a shock deadline day swoop, and his arrival was met with mixed reactions from fans.

Despite this, he has shown immense ability and leadership during his time with the Gunners, and the offering of a new deal is thought to be reflective of this importance.

Fans of many clubs have praised the news of Jorginho’s new contract, with one on X (formerly Twitter) saying: “He’s has turned out to be such an astute bit of business. Chelsea made a big mistake letting him go.”

The news comes just weeks after speculation of a new contract being discussed for defender Gabriel Magalhaes, with Jorginho set to join an increasing list of important stars who have signed, or are set to sign, new contracts in recent and coming months.
