Arsenal midfielder Jorginho has expressed his appreciation for Juventus and has reportedly initiated contact with the Italian club’s sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli. The Italian international, who made the switch to the Gunners from Chelsea in the winter transfer window of 2023, has been a key figure in Arsenal’s midfield since his arrival.

Despite Jorginho’s significant contributions to Arsenal, uncertainties loom over his future with the club. His current contract is set to expire at the end of June, and the Gunners have yet to exercise an extension clause.

Juventus are closely monitoring the situation, with Italian outlet Calciomercato suggesting that Jorginho has already explored the possibility of a free transfer to the Serie A giants.

Jorginho’s admiration for Juventus adds to the intrigue, as the club evaluates whether Arsenal will opt to renew his contract or not this summer. Speculation suggests that the outcome could hinge on the managerial transition at Juventus, with Thiago Motta expected to succeed Massimiliano Allegri.

The Gunners signed the 32-year-old midfielder for £12 million in 2023, a move that has proven beneficial as Jorginho has provided valuable cover in midfield, particularly given the sporadic fitness of Thomas Partey. However, with Arsenal reportedly eyeing another high-profile midfielder, Jorginho’s playing time next season could be at risk.

Amid these considerations, it is argued that Arsenal should exercise the option to extend Jorginho’s contract for another year. This decision would not only ensure stability in midfield but could also facilitate a potential transfer fee if he were to be sold this summer.

Additionally, given Partey’s age and injury history, retaining Jorginho on his current terms could be a prudent long-term strategy for the club.

The Gunners are also linked with several midfield targets in the summer as Mikel Arteta looks to refresh the squad ahead of the new season. Arsenal are expected to be in the mix again to challenge for silverware next season.
