Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is confronting a significant choice regarding the future of goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale amid reports suggesting the England international is contemplating leaving the club.

Ramsdale, who joined Arsenal from Sheffield United in a £30million deal in the summer of 2021, initially served as backup to Bernd Leno. However, impressive performances, including clean sheets in key matches, swiftly elevated him to the position of Arteta’s preferred goalkeeper.

Despite being an ever-present figure for Arsenal last season, Ramsdale has faced competition from loan signing David Raya this campaign. Raya’s solid performances have further complicated Ramsdale’s situation, raising doubts about his long-term prospects at the club.

With Raya expected to make his move to Arsenal permanent in the upcoming transfer window, speculation has intensified regarding Ramsdale’s future. Both Newcastle United and Chelsea are reportedly interested in acquiring the 25-year-old shot-stopper to bolster their goalkeeping options.

Arteta, when questioned about Ramsdale’s future and potential transfers, remained tight-lipped, stating, “You know I’m not going to comment on those things. A suggestion? There is a big reality that Aaron will be here because he is our player and has a contract.”

However, according to reports from TEAMtalk, Ramsdale is considering a departure from Arsenal this summer, prompting the club to set an asking price of around £60 million for his services.

The England international is not without suitors and he has recently been linked with Wolves who may lose Jose Sa to Saudi Arabia next season. He has made just six Premier League appearances this season despite starting the campaign as the Arsenal No 1 goalkeeper.

He was one of Arsenal’s best players last season and was even named in the Premier League Team of the Year ahead of Manchester City treble winner Ederson Moraes and Liverpool’s Allison Becker.
