Arsenal are showing serious interest in signing Martin Baturina from Dinamo Zagreb ahead of the summer transfer window, according to recent reports.
Nicknamed the “next Luka Modrić”, Baturina has impressed many this season and is one of the most important players in the Dinamo Zagreb side, who are on course to win the Croatian League title for a record, 24th time.
The 20-year-old has made 27 appearances for Zagreb in the league this season, scoring five goals & recording nine assists. He also played all the group stage games during Zagreb’s Champions League campaign.
Operating mainly as an attacking midfielder, he is a very versatile player who can do a job anywhere across the midfield. The 20-year-old is expected to leave Dinamo at the end of the season, with many European clubs interested in his signature, including Arsenal.
Mikel Arteta already made his first move and sent scouts to watch his match against Hajduk Split, and the scouts were impressed as he scored a goal and picked up an assist in a convincing 4-0 win for Zagreb.
The Arsenal boss is a big fan of the Croatian and sees him as a potential Xhaka successor in Arsenal’s midfield in the future. It is expected that Dinamo Zagreb will demand around £15m for his services.
Arsenal have seen success this season through giving youngsters the opportunities to prove themselves and it looks like the Gunners are going to continue that trend this summer, with the potential signing of one of Croatia’s most promising prospects.
