Following their Champions League disappointment against Bayern Munich, Arsenal are ramping up efforts to fortify their attacking prowess ahead of the forthcoming season. Manager Mikel Arteta is eager to inject more firepower into his squad, with RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko emerging as a top priority.

Standing tall at 6 feet 4 inches, Sesko has attracted interest from several elite clubs, including Chelsea and Manchester United. Representatives of the 20-year-old Slovenian have been sighted at matches involving these Premier League giants, signaling significant interest in his services.

Sesko, who made the switch from Red Bull Salzburg to RB Leipzig last summer, has swiftly left his mark in the Bundesliga, registering an impressive tally of 13 goals across various competitions this season. With a €50 million release clause poised to activate in the summer, Sesko is primed for a major move.

Often drawing comparisons to Erling Haaland, Sesko brings a blend of height and versatility to his game, capable of thriving both as a central striker and out wide. Arsenal, seeking reinforcements in multiple attacking positions, views Sesko as an appealing prospect, particularly considering his potentially modest wage demands compared to alternative targets.

Sesko is among the newest rising stars to emerge from RB Salzburg, following in the footsteps of Erling Haaland and Sadio Mané, and he is currently making a significant impact in the Bundesliga.

His transfer to Leipzig had already been finalised in the summer of 2022, but he opted to spend another season at Salzburg to further develop his skills, preparing himself for the challenge of replacing players like Christopher Nkunku and Dominik Szoboszlai. This decision resulted in him winning his third Austrian league title and allowed him to seamlessly transition to Leipzig, where he quickly adapted to the higher level of competition.

Leipzig’s sporting director Christopher Vivell, who had convinced the then-16-year-old Šeško to sign for Salzburg from Slovenian side Domžale in 2019. “Benjamin Šeško is among the game’s top young talents, and has enormous potential to become a top player. He has all the qualities to do that.”

With the summer transfer market buzzing, as Paris Saint-Germain hunts for replacements following Kylian Mbappe’s imminent departure and other forwards like Viktor Gyokeres, Victor Osimhen, and Ivan Toney eye potential moves, Arsenal’s pursuit of Sesko underscores their resolve to bolster their squad ahead of the upcoming campaign.
