Arsenal technical director, Edu Gaspar knows the Brazilian market extremely well and it appears the Gunners could be dipping back into it this summer.

According to Brazilian outlet Portal do Gremista, Arsenal have been linked with a potential transfer move for Gremio winger Bitello.

Bitello is a 23-year-old attacking midfielder who can also operate from the right-hand side. It has been reported that Arsenal had a scout present at Bitello’s latest competitive fixture, which saw Gremio take on Botafogo in the Brazilian league.

It’s currently unclear whether the Gunners are lining up a bid or not for the player this summer, however it is known that the club and specifically Edu are always keeping a close eye on the Brazilian market with the Arsenal hierarchy very well connected within the South American market.

Bitello is fast, very good technically, which we know Mikel Arteta is a big fan of and he’s brilliant at creating chances for both himself and his teammates. The question is can he do it in the Premier League as it’s a big step up from the Brazilian first division.

The 23-year-old midfielder recorded ten goal contributions in the league during the 2022/23 season and so far this campaign he’s scored three goals in 13 games for the Brazilian side. Bitello’s current contract at Gremio is up and the end of next season.

Should Arsenal opt to make a move for Bitello, he would likely cost around £8.5 million. With the club recently agreeing big money deals for Kai Havertz and Declan Rice this would be seen a very low-risk purchase. However with the way the club operates now, they have to be 100% sure on a player before making it happen, so it remains to be seen whether Arsenal will make a move for the Brazilian later in the window.

After the signing of Gabriel Martinelli for £6million from the Brazilian fourth division, it’s fair to say sometimes the risk is worth taking, especially when the risk is so minimal.
