Recent reports suggest that Arsenal have set their sights on 23-year-old Moroccan winger Ibrahim Salah, who is currently plying his trade at Ligue 1 outfit Rennes.

French outlet Le 360 Sport says that Arsenal have expressed interest in Ibrahim Salah, indicating the Gunners’ quest for a wide attacker ahead of the January transfer window. This interest has prompted Arsenal to send scouts to closely observe Salah’s performances for Stade Rennais in recent weeks.

While the January transfer window may see Arsenal focusing on recruiting a striker and a centre-back, the pursuit of a wide attacker like Salah is likely slated for the summer transfer window.

Pedro Neto remains a prominent name on Arsenal’s list of potential signings; however, the club might not pursue the Portuguese international in January. Similarly, the emergence of Ibrahim Salah on Arsenal’s radar might not lead to immediate action in the upcoming transfer window.

Arsenal’s scouting team have diligently monitored the performances of the 23-year-old winger. While the club plans to continue tracking Salah’s progress in the coming months, a transfer move in January seems improbable.

Salah’s potential role as an alternative to Gabriel Martinelli on the left flank, coupled with Martinelli’s inconsistent form this season, could escalate the winger’s position on Arsenal’s transfer priority list for the summer window in 2024.

Who is Ibrahim Salah?

Salah is from Saint-Josse-ten-Noode, he spent his developmental years in Belgium before opting to represent Morocco internationally. Although he is yet to make his senior debut for the Atlas Lions, his talents have earned him a call-up during the September international break under the guidance of Walid Regragui.

Salah made the move to Stade Rennais from KAA Gent in January 2023. While he hasn’t secured a regular starting spot for the Ligue 1 club, the 23-year-old has shown promise, notching an impressive tally of five goals in 15 appearances for the Red and Blacks this term.
