Reports have surfaced linking Arsenal with talented Girona defender Miguel Gutierrez who is expected to leave the Spanish club at the end of the current season.

The 22-year-old’s stellar performances have not gone unnoticed, with several top Premier League clubs eyeing his signature.

According to sources cited by Fichajes, Manchester United have identified Gutierrez as their primary transfer target and are determined to secure his services. However, the Red Devils are set to face stiff competition from Arsenal, who are also expressing a keen interest in the promising defender.

As speculation mounts, all eyes are on whether Arsenal will formalise their interest with an offer for the 22-year-old in the upcoming months. With a reported tally of six assists and a goal this season, Gutierrez’s ability from the left-back position could provide a significant boost to Arsenal’s squad depth, particularly in an area where reinforcements are desired.

For Manchester United, the pursuit of Gutierrez signifies their quest to bolster their left-back options, with concerns surrounding Luke Shaw’s injury record and Tyrell Malacia’s limited game time this season. Gutierrez, touted as a quality long-term prospect, could offer a sustainable solution to their defensive needs.

Arsenal look to continue their Champions League adventure next season and that could tip the scales in their favour, as ambitious players like Gutierrez may prioritise joining clubs competing at the highest level of European football.
