Reports from Spanish media indicate that Arsenal are reigniting their pursuit of Valencia’s rising star, Yarek Gasiorowski, following complications caused by Brexit that thwarted an earlier potential deal.
Gasiorowski, who recently marked his eagerly-awaited senior debut for Valencia against RCD Mallorca, had brief appearances in subsequent games against Granada and Real Madrid.
Despite the challenging initiation, his potential shone through, notably in a 35-minute outing against Real Madrid, where Valencia faced a 5-1 defeat. The young talent’s prowess was further underscored by a remarkable hat-trick against Moldova, boosting his tally to five goals in 16 matches with Spain U-19.
Arsenal had previously expressed interest in Yarek Gasiorowski, but the regulatory aftermath of Brexit hindered the signing while he was still underage. Now, at 18, the Gunners are once again eyeing the talented player, as reported by AS. However, the timing and likelihood of a renewed bid remain uncertain, potentially under pressure due to various factors.
Since Brexit’s onset, English clubs are prohibited from signing players below 18 years old and can’t acquire more than three players annually under 21. Yarek became eligible in January and Arsenal, having tracked him since his early days, closely watches his ascent in the top tier. However, Valencia seems to be in sync and achieving favorable outcomes, akin to a card game, in this pursuit.
Valencia currently holds Gasiorowski’s release clause at a relatively modest €20 million. Nevertheless, reports suggest this clause could escalate significantly once the player is officially part of the first-team roster. Valencia’s intention to bolster their squad in January may further complicate Arsenal’s pursuit.
Additionally, Valencia aims to retain Gasiorowski’s eligibility for their reserve team, prioritizing his consistent game time over more sporadic appearances in LaLiga, given his youth and potential for development.
Beyond Arsenal, several prominent clubs including RB Salzburg, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, and Juventus have shown interest in the young talent at different points in time, highlighting the widespread recognition of Gasiorowski’s abilities on the field.
