Arsenal are set to walk away from one of their potential summer transfer targets, with Bayern Munich successfully retaining the services of promising young striker Mathys Tel.

The young French talent had captured the attention of both Arsenal and Manchester United due to his impressive performances, despite facing limited opportunities at Bayern Munich where he played second fiddle to Harry Kane.

The transfer speculation surrounding Tel was fueled, in part, by his frustration with the lack of playing time under the departing Bayern manager, Thomas Tuchel. However, Tuchel’s imminent departure has led to a change in Bayern’s approach towards the 18-year-old striker.

According to reports from Sport Bild, Tel had been prepared to leave if Tuchel remained at the club. Still, Tuchel’s announcement that he would be leaving altered the youngster’s perspective.

Moreover, Tel seems to be influenced by the philosophy of Bayern’s new sporting director, Max Eberl. In a media presentation, Eberl emphasised the club’s commitment to recruiting players who contribute to success and hinted at the potential for Tel to play a crucial role in their future endeavours.

While just last week, the doors seemed open for Manchester United or Arsenal to secure a move for the talented teenager, recent developments suggest a shift in Tel’s stance. Sport Bild reported, “Until now, Tel had blocked all attempts to lure people away from Bayern. But now he is seriously thinking about a change option in the summer. The task in England could appeal to him.”

Bayern’s new football boss specifically mentioning Tel appears to have played a decisive role in the player’s decision. Renowned football transfer news specialist Fabrizio Romano confirmed the latest developments, stating, “One of the priorities at Bayern is to keep Mathys Tel at the club. Bayern told Mathys Tel that they don’t want him to leave, they want him to be an important part of the project. The boy wants to stay, he wants to be an important part of Bayern’s future, and so Mathys Tel is staying at Bayern.”.
