Arsenal have set their sights on Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi as their priority for the upcoming summer transfer window, according to sources close to the Gunners’ transfer plans.

The North London club is increasingly leaning towards Zubimendi as doubts linger over the future of Jorginho at the Emirates Stadium.

Zubimendi, who has a release clause in the region of €60m (£52m) in his contract with Real Sociedad, is seen as a more cost-effective option compared to Douglas Luiz from Aston Villa, who is also highly regarded by Arsenal but not currently considered a realistic target. The interest in Zubimendi has reportedly intensified as he is viewed as an ideal replacement for Jorginho, who is garnering interest from Juventus.

With Jorginho’s contract nearing its end at Arsenal, the club is expected to pursue a new midfield signing instead of extending the Italian international’s deal for another season. Reports suggest that there have been multiple discussions between Juventus and Jorginho’s representatives in recent months, further pointing towards a potential departure for the experienced midfielder.

In addition to the pursuit of Zubimendi, Arsenal are also prioritising the signing of a new striker this summer. Now.arsenal reported exclusively that Newcastle United star Alexander Isak is Mikel Arteta’s preferred choice in the summer. Other reports have linked Viktor Gyokeres to the club and he is reportedly under serious consideration for the role, with Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez also emerging as a potential target for the Gunners. Tottenham has been linked with Gimenez as well, highlighting the competition for the talented forward.

While there has been speculation surrounding Gabriel Jesus’ future, it is Eddie Nketiah who is believed to be more likely to exit Mikel Arteta’s plans and secure a transfer away from Arsenal in the summer. The Gunners are ready to make big moves in the market as they look to bolster their squad ahead of the new season.
