The situation with Ivan Toney is becoming increasingly clear with Brentford manager Thomas Frank stating the club have no intention to sell the striker.

Arsenal have been heavily linked with a move for the England striker this month, with the 28-year-old set to return to action in the coming weeks following his eight month ban for betting activities.

The Gunners have seen their title charge derailing early this season after the attack failed to click and score enough goals to sustain their lead at the top of the table. Currently fourth on the log, five points behind leaders Liverpool, the need for additional firepower is evident, leading to speculations surrounding Toney’s potential move to the Emirates.

Addressing the situation, Brentford manager, Frank, emphasised Toney’s loyalty to the club, stating, “Yes, he’s staying. He is a Brentford player. I can’t see why we would sell him, and I would love to have him for a longer time. It needs to be an unbelievable price. So he will stay here.”

While Arsenal have long admired Toney, economic considerations are currently preventing them from making substantial moves in the January transfer window. The situation is contingent on the potential departure of Eddie Nketiah, another Arsenal striker, who is drawing interest from multiple clubs, including West Ham, Crystal Palace and even Brentford, though no concrete offers have materialised.

The scenario with Ivan Toney is expected to evolve in the summer, as Arsenal plans to intensify efforts to secure the striker’s signature. Brentford acknowledges Toney’s desire to join Arsenal and is open to negotiations, but they won’t settle for less than market value.

Arsenal values Toney at approximately £50 million, while Brentford has set a price tag above £80 million. The negotiation process is anticipated to be protracted, and both clubs will likely engage in extensive discussions in the months leading up to the summer transfer window.
