Despite being the highest scoring team in the Premier League this season, Arsenal are very keen to add a big name striker in the summer with the club linked with several high-profile targets ahead of the summer.

The Gunners are reportedly eyeing a £65 million striker to bolster their attacking options ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window as they seek to rectify their front-line deficiencies.

Over the weekend, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta experimented with his attacking lineup, opting for Gabriel Jesus as the primary striker with Kai Havertz deployed in midfield. However, the Brazilian’s struggles in front of goal were evident as Arsenal suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Aston Villa, exposing the squad’s lack of depth in attacking positions.

Jesus has been plagued by injuries in his second season at Arsenal, while Eddie Nketiah has struggled to secure regular playing time upfront. The reliance on Havertz highlights Arsenal’s need for alternative attacking options.

According to reports from Gazzetta dello Sport, the north Londoners are actively pursuing Bologna star Joshua Zirkzee as a potential solution. This comes as a departure from earlier speculation linking Arsenal with high-profile strikers such as Ivan Toney and Victor Osimhen.

Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has disclosed that Arsenal are prepared to offer Zirkzee a weekly wage of £115,000 to entice him to the Premier League. The move would see him serve as a rotational option alongside Havertz, Jesus, and wingers Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli.

Although the likelihood of the transfer seems high, its realisation could hinge on the negotiation of the transfer fee. Bologna, enjoying a successful season under manager Thiago Motta, has attracted interest from multiple clubs for Zirkzee’s services. Some reports suggest that the club may need to pay £65 million to secure the 22-year-old’s signature.
