Arsenal have been a club on a mission ever since the appointment of Mikel Arteta in December 2019. It seems that their days of disappointing campaigns may well have come to an end.

This season, even if the Gunners finish without a trophy, it will go down as a season of significant progress which is a success in itself. It has been one of Arsenal’s best seasons in recent years and has given Arsenal fans something to believe in again Mikel Arteta and his young Arsenal side took on Manchester City for the Premier League title and this is only the beginning…

Even though it seems unlikely as of right now that Arsenal will lift the Premier League trophy come May, they still managed to give a fully developed Manchester City side a fight that had them worried for the majority of the season. The lack of squad depth may well have been a key factor that caused Arsenal to slip-up and potentially miss out on being Premier League champions.

It has been reported that Arsenal are ready to spend a lot of cash in the upcoming summer window. Arsenal are preparing to take on one of their biggest ever transfer windows to finish the process. This will surely be a big step for them.

Fabrizio Romano said on his Here We Go podcast,

I would say, at least 3 signings in the summer. This is going to be a priority. I’m sure Arsenal will be busy.

The idea of Arsenal is to go for a new midfielder, let’s see what happens with centre-back situation. I expect them to go for an offensive player. At least 3, then let’s see what happens with right-back situation.

This may not necessarily seem like much but following the rumours of names such as Moises Caicedo, Declan Rice, etc. heavily rumoured to be of interest to Arsenal, they may well be on their way to splash big amounts of cash.

Arsenal have successfully secured Champions League football for next season but may well have narrowly missed out on winning the Premier League title. If they do fail to win the Premier League it would mean that they go through this season trophyless.

Arsenal bounced back to winning ways against Chelsea & Newcastle following a poor run of games. This poor run can prove to be very costly if Manchester City go on to win the Premier League. Following their Champions League qualification, Arsenal are committed to strengthening their squad to ensure that they will be able to do well. It is understood that Arsenal are targeting two centre-backs, two midfielders, and a versatile attacker.

Moussa Diaby is reported to be a serious option for Arsenal. However, Leverkusen are not ready to let him go for anything under £50million. Arsenal will also face strong competition from other clubs such as Real Madrid, Manchester United and Newcastle United as well.

The rumours of a new forward expected to be signed is fueled by the recent reports that Reiss Nelson has rejected a contract extension from Arsenal. It is also very likely that Folarin Balogun will leave Arsenal after his return from his loan at French side Reims.

If Arsenal lose out on Moussa Diaby, it is said that they will explore the option of signing Wilfred Zaha from Crystal Palace. The player seems to admire the club and could potentially want a bigger challenge. However, Zaha will only be considered if Arsenal fail to sign Diaby, or any of their other primary targets.

Along with Zaha, another Crystal Palace player Arsenal are said to be interested in is Marc Guehi. Guehi has been impressive and proved to be a serious player on the pitch.

Another growing belief is that Arsenal will give it their best shot to sign Declan Rice from West Ham. He has been linked with Arsenal since the January transfer window. Mikel Arteta admires the player and may well push to make him a part of his Arsenal squad.

Moises Caicedo is another midfielder who Arsenal seem to bring in. They attempted to sign the player in the past January, but failed to do so. Brighton were not willing to let the player leave despite a transfer request. Few days later, Caicedo extended his contract with Brighton.

However, Arsenal are said to still remain interested in signing Caicedo. Southampton’s Romeo Lavia is also a midfielder on Arsenal’s wish list.

While Arsenal are ready to spend big, they are also looking to offload some of their players. The likes of Rob Holding, Kieran Tierney, Folarin Balogun, Reiss Nelson and Emile Smith-Rowe are rumoured to be headed for the exit door.

It is bound to be a busy and expensive summer for Arsenal ahead of next season where they aim to show more progress on a terrific 2022/23 campaign.
